Greetings from the Valley!
It’s only been four weeks since the semester began, but ASA at CSUN has been working nonstop! This semester, we aim to supply the Armenian community at CSUN with a collection of meaningful cultural and social events that they can thoroughly enjoy.
Last week marked CSUN ASA’s first General Body Meeting of the year! Our turn-out was excellent, and the Executive Board focused on keeping all of our members in the loop about the long list of events happening between now and May. In order to bring some of the more quiet students out from their shells, we played a simple icebreaker, but added a small Armenian twist to it: each student was asked to finish the sentence, “When I go to my grandma’s house, I love to eat…” The answers were pretty versatile, from khorovats to french fries! Personally, I will cancel any plans I have for the day if my grandmother is making manti!
ASA has also been hard at work planning Armenian Genocide Awareness Week with Alpha Epsilon Omega (AEO), the Armenian fraternity on campus, and Alpha Gamma Alpha (AGA), the Armenian sorority. Every Thursday, the three organizations meet from 12 – 2 PM to discuss, plan, and create a powerful and rousing commemoration for the 98th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Currently, we are brainstorming a stirring theme that we can use for Genocide Week in April. The meetings are held in the Granada Room in the Northridge Center at CSUN, so please join us if you are interested in helping plan this significant week!
Last but not least, make sure to attend CSUN ASA’s Pizza Rev Fundraiser, happening on Tuesday, February 26th! Pizza Rev (9420 Reseda Blvd., Northridge, CA 91324) is a super popular and delicious eatery that can best be described as ‘the Subway of the pizza world-’ make sure to support ASA by checking it out anytime on the 26th!
I’m so excited about moving forward with ASA and planning educational, cultural, and social events that we can end these last few months of the school year with! It’s going to be a great semester.
Until next time,
