On Tuesday April 4th the Armenian Students’ Association at University of California, Los Angeles hosted their annual Cultural Festival in Bruin Plaza. The plaza was decorated with many posters telling the history and fun facts about Armenia and Armenian. Traditional Armenian rugs were displayed and traditional Armenian food, such as xorovats and gata were sold. The UCLA Armenian Dance Group also performed during the festival. Beside a choreographed piece, they staged the traditional Armenian Wedding and were successful in displaying all the traditions and dances that take place during the ceremony. After the wedding performance the dance group engaged the audience, Armenians and non-Armenians, into shalakho and shurjpar.
